Prototype: Veluwsche Stoomtrein MIJ, Netherlands, class 64 steam locomotive. One each type Gbs boxcar, one type Ucs 383 spherical container car, and one type Zes 810 tank car, all painted and lettered for the Veluwsche Stoomtrein Museum Railroad. The train looks as it currently does in real life.

Model: The locomotive has an mfx digital decoder, Softdrive Sine controlled high-efficiency propulsion, and extensive sound functions. It also has a compact design, maintenance-free motor. 3 axles powered. Traction tires. The 72270 smoke generator can be installed in the locomotive. The triple headlights change over with the direction of travel. They and the smoke generator contact will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The headlights are maintenance-free, warm white LEDs. Brake hose and piston rod protection sleeves are included and can be installed on the locomotive. The frame for the spherical container car is partially open. Total length over the buffers 51.2 cm / 20-1/8".

Prototype: Class F 140 AC 2 electric locomotive painted and lettered for "AngelTrainsCargo" (ATC), leased to the "Häfen und Güterverkehr, Köln" / "Harbors and Freight Service, Cologne". Built starting in 2005 by Bombardier as a locomotive from the TRAXX locomotive program. Use: freight service.

Model: The locomotive has an NEM digital connector. It also has a 5-pole motor with 2 flywheels. 4 axles powered. Traction tires. The locomotive has a close coupler mechanism. Length over the buffers 118 mm / 4-5/8".

One-time series in 2010 for the Märklin "Exclusiv" program!

TRAXX Locomotives. Locomotives from the TRAXX type family built by Bombardier are in operation everywhere in Europe today. In 1994, the AEG experimental 12X locomotive appeared, which then underwent testing as road no. 128 001 on the DB. The knowledge gained from this went into the development of the class 145, which was placed into service on the DB starting in 1998 as a freight locomotive with a maximum speed of 140 km/h / 88 mph. Eighty locomotives were built for the DB and additional units for the Swiss Mittelthurgau Railroad, which were used in the end on the SBB as the class Re 481. There are several other class 145 locomotives on privately owned railroads. The class 146.0 for commuter service was derived from the class 145; the most noticeable feature of the former is the train destination sign on the end of the locomotive. The class 146.0 is designed for 160 km/h / 100 mph and also has a time-multiplex push/pull train control system. The real success story began in 2000 however. Bombardier introduced the multiple system version: The class 185 was also designed for the power current systems of neighboring railroads. A total of 400 units of the class 185 are to be purchased. Depending on the country they will be used in, the locomotives are being equipped with the correct train safety systems and with electrical equipment as a "package". So, there are locomotives with two or four pantographs and different contact wiper widths as the most noticeable external difference. There are also many class 185.1 locomotives on private railroads. And, there is a class 146.1 160 km/h / 100 mph fast version of this locomotive for commuter service. The TRAXX family locomotives delivered starting in 2005 formed the next evolutionary step on European railroads: They were equipped with locomotive bodies with improved ability to withstand crashes; the shape of these locomotive bodies looks more powerful and brawnier at the ends. Other changes have to do with the electrical rectifier layout. Railion is presently putting 200 of these locomotives into service as the class 185.2. There is also a commuter service version of this locomotive for 160 km/h / 100 mph, the class 146.2. These locomotives are currently being used as motive power for the latest bi-level trains in the areas of Stuttgart, Freiburg, and Nürnberg. The German Railroad, Inc. is not the only eager buyer of this family of locomotives with an eye for the future. The SBB and many privately owned railroads such as the Swiss Crossrail are placing different models of the various series into service.

Prototype: German State Railroad Company (DRG) class 01 express locomotive. First production run of the standard design locomotive starting in 1925. 4-6-2 wheel arrangement, version with an older design boiler, small Wagner smoke deflectors, gas lighting, and a type 2´2´T32 riveted tender. Black basic paint scheme. Era II. Use: Express and fast passenger trains.

Model: The locomotive has an NEM digital connector. The motor and gear drive are in the tender, and the motor has a flywheel. 4 axles powered. The tender is constructed of die-cast metal. The smoke box door can be opened. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender. There is an NEM coupler pocket on the back of the tender. Length over the buffers 150 mm / 5-7/8".

Well-Known Colors, Quaint Details... The first standard design locomotive from the German State Railroad's comprehensive concept was the class 01 that was built starting in 1925. At that time it looked a bit more quaint than what we know today: older design boiler, small Wagner smoke deflectors, riveted tender with a raised superstructure, and gas lighting. This locomotive already had the well-known paint scheme in black and dark red, but it still had the technical details of the original version.

An accessory parts kit with brakeman's steps, rail guards, and a front coupler with a pocket is included.

The set with the "D119" express passenger train from this same period, available under item no. 15859, goes well with this version of the class 01.

Model: The Ae 8/14 electric locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and factory-installed, controllable sound functions. The Ae 6/6 electric locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. The locomotives have controlled high-efficiency propulsion. Traction tires. The headlights / marker lights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. and different operating sounds, as well as the acceleration and braking delay can be controlled. Total length of the freight train 115.4 cm / 45-7/16". The passenger cars are ready for installation of the 7319 current-conducting coupling or the 72020/72021 current-conducting coupler, the 73405 pickup shoe / ground spring power pickup set, and the 73400 or 73401 lighting kit (2 per car). Total length for the passenger train 99.5 cm / 39-3/16". Contents: Large C Track layout with 47 sections of track and 2 wide radius turnouts with electric turnout mechanisms and decoders. Model: Era IV. The locomotive has a digital connector. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender. The frames for the locomotive and the tender are constructed of die-cast metal; the body for the tender is also constructed of die-cast metal. The smoke box door can be opened. This locomotive is an Era IV version. The motor and gear drive are in the tender. The motor has a flywheel. 4 axles powered. There is an NEM coupler pocket on the back of the tender. Length over the buffers 150 mm / 5-7/8".

Express locomotives were always the stars among steam locomotives by virtue of their power, elegance, and speed. The class 01 heavy express locomotive was probably for all intents and purposes the personification of the German standard design locomotive. It was reliable motive power for impressive express trains as well as for mundane passenger trains. By 1938, a total of 231 class 01 locomotives had been produced by different German builders. In addition, there were also 10 class 02 locomotives rebuilt between 1937 and 1942 to the class 01. After World War II, 165 of the class 01 locomotives remained in the western occupation zone and 70 in the Soviet zone, of which several had to be retired due to extensive damage. Starting in the Fifties, both German railroads rebuilt their locomotives several times and adapted them to new uses by making use of technical progress. In West Germany, the large Wagner smoke deflectors were replaced by the small Witte versions, the compressor and feed water pump wandered on the DB locomotives from the niche on the smoke box to the center of the boiler, and the front skirting between the buffer beam and the running boards was removed on numerous units. The class 01 was taken out of service on the DB in the middle of the Seventies; on the DR they lasted until the Eighties.

Prototype: Class LINT 41/H powered commuter rail car with high platform entries. Version as a "demonstrator" for the builder Alstom. Era V.

Model: The powered rail car train has an NEM digital connector. It also has a motor with a flywheel. 2 axles powered. Both halves of the powered rail car train are close coupled by means of a Jakobs truck with a guide mechanism. The headlights, marker lights, interior lighting, and train destination sign are LEDs. The powered rail car train has multi-part interiors. Length over the buffers 262 mm / 10-5/16".

One-time series!

LINT. The abbreviation LINT stands for "Lightweight Innovative Commuter Service Cars" in German. These streamlined, two-part trains come in 2 versions, with low platform and high platform entries, 16 seats in 1st class, 98 in 2nd class, 15 fold-down seats, and 103 places for standing. These trains have generously sized restrooms, automatic ticket machines, and they offer entry ramps for handicapped people. In the depressed area the floor is lowered to 58 cm / 22-13/16" (78 cm / 30-11/16" on the LINT 41H). The train reaches a maximum speed of 120 km/h / 75 mph. It can be coupled easily to other powered rail car trains by means of Scharfenberg couplers and can be used in multiple unit operation. The prototype train is being used as demonstrator unit by the builder Alstom.

Version for experienced model railroaders for operation with conventional DC power.
A 66838 digital decoder can be installed in this train.
