Professor Ernst Fuchs (born in Austria, 1930), the exceeding multilateral Avant Garde fantastic realist artist, painter and sculptor created sculptures and stage settings, which are also internationally appreciated. The paralel with the surrealistic Artist Salvador Dali is obvious and started in Paris were they both worked during a 12 years stay, and became close friends.
He designed a piece from his childhood for Ars Mundi: The Teddy bear turns into an artful multiple - equipped with typical attributes of its creator like an artist-cap and an artist-jacket. Its left paw is embroidered with the signature of the Viennese artist.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Teddy bear in 2002 the Margarete Steiff Company presented the Ernst Fuchs Bear named "Schatzi" (Darling).
Edited by Ars Mundi, the "Schatzi"-Bear is 30 cm / 12 inches when sitting, made of the finest gold-colored mohair and equipped with leader shoes, cap, jacket and titian red-gold braid like Ernst Fuchs.
It wears a necklace of gold with a heart-pendant (Swarovski-crystal) and has a genuine porcelain babuschka (20 cm / 8 inches), which is signed and numbered by hand.The babuschka includes original photo prints of the childhood of Ernst Fuchs which are hand-signed by the artist himself. Furthermore the Teddy bear has a white and consecutively numbered ear tag and a gold-plated "button in ear".
