The term "Feldjäger" dates back to the Prussian King Friedrich II, who set up a squad in 1740 with the task of keeping military order. This traditional name is used today as part of the armed forces foundation for the German Federal Army's modern military police structure. Police vehicles for deployment and for patrol duty are a part of appropriate armament. These vehicles are derived from civilian types (example: VW bus) or military versions (example: "Wolf").
