First of the animals from Margarete Steiff's Country Garden Series!

Animals from Margarete's Country Garden -headed by Fritzle, the Musical Wonder Rabbit ...Some stories sound so incredible that they must be true ... back in 1862, Margarete Steiff is a young lady sitting in her parents' garden. It is Summer, the sun is shining, the flowers are in full bloom and the bees are humming. As well as wielding a needle, Margarete uses her nimble fingers to play the zither, for which she has a passion. So she is sitting there, playing a few tunes to herself, including the lovely old Swabian folk song "Auf'm Wasa graset D'Hasa" about a rabbit grazing in the fields ... suddenly she sees a little rabbit in the tempting vegetable garden, who seems to be listening to her zither and moving its head from side to side in time to the music.
"That's Fritzle" says Margarete laughingly to herself ... She watches him feasting happily as rabbits will - and naughtily stealing a carrot. She smiles, goes on playing her zither and looking at the little rabbit enjoying his ill-gotten gains. Fritzle the rabbit has been commemorated with an enchanting wonder bunny of the same name.
When you turn his fluffy little tail, a music box is triggered that plays the very tune that Margarete was picking out on her zither when she caught Fritzle red-pawed so to speak.

And thanks to an innovative neck mechanism, he can turn his head in a circle - as if he were already enjoying the juicy carrot that he is holding in his paws. Surely no-one can resist stroking the long, soft and floppy ears of dear little Fritze. Incidentally, the story of Margarete and Fritzle has not come to an end. When Margarete smiled to herself and went on playing her zither, other little animals came into the garden one by one - a squirrel, a hedgehog, a mouse and many more. At least, this is what legend would have us to believe ... Incredible? But it is undoubtedly true that Fritzle the rabbit is the first in a wondrous series called "Animals from Margarete's Country Garden" ... so the story was continued!
